When emotion and experiences intersect brands create a powerful platform for growth. This interactive workshop provided Nottingham’s marvellous MSc Marketing students with some practical advice on how to build emotionally-charged brand experiences.

Marketing practitioners and academics are increasingly recognising the importance of understanding the customer experience.

Last semester Dr Darren Coleman ran a highly engaging and thought-provoking workshop for our students who are taking either the MSc Marketing or MSc International Tourism Management and Marketing course.

Having highlighted how building unique and memorable brand experiences can be a key differentiator in today’s highly competitive markets, students then had the opportunity to get hands on experience of applying a tried-and-tested template to help them think more deeply about building brand experiences for brands of their choice.

Sally McKechnie, Professor of Marketing, Nottingham University Business School

Some years ago I listened to Dr. Sally McKechnie talk about services brands as part of my post grad studies at Nottingham. The topic fascinated me and now provides a niche for most the client work we complete at Wavelength. With that in mind it’s always a pleasure to reconnect with Sally and the team at the University of Nottingham Business School.

The ideas and insights I shared were very practical and commercially-orientated. Lessons from the University of Life you could say. In a limited amount of time the students produced some great draft customer journey maps which was encouraging to see.
